FET technology battery isolators allow two or more batteries to be charged simultaneously from a single alternator (or a single battery charger), without connecting the batteries to each other. This means that discharging the service battery, for example, will not also discharge the starting battery. They have virtually no voltage drop, which is less than 0.02 volts under no load and averages 0.1 volts at full load.
