A 1 kg dry powder fire extinguisher is a portable fire-fighting device designed to extinguish small initial fires.

It is often used in cars, motorhomes, small boats, homes, or places where a lot of immediate intervention “power” is not required.

MAIN FEATURES:

Metal cylinder: cylindrical body made of sheet steel, resistant to internal pressure
Extinguishing powder: chemical mixture (usually ABC powder) that works by smothering, chemical inhibition, and cooling.
Valve / actuator: lever that opens the passage for the powder to be discharged.
Pressure gauge / pressure indicator: shows whether the fire extinguisher is still charged within the correct operating range.
Nozzle / lance: from which the powder is discharged, directed at the fire.
Support / bracket: for mounting it on a wall or vehicle.
Fire classes 8A/55B/C
With pressure gauge and wall-mounted metal bracket
Temperature range: -30°C/+60°C
RINA certification
Approvals / standards: compliant with Ministerial Decree 07/01/05 and European standard EN 3-7
Discharge duration / discharge time: for small 1 kg fire extinguishers, the operating time is short (a few seconds)

This type of fire extinguisher requires a six-monthly inspection and a revision every 36 months - as required by regulations.

ADVANTAGES:

LIMITATIONS:

Leaves powdery residues that can penetrate electrical equipment
It is not ideal for class F fires (cooking oils) or for environments where residue causes problems
Due to its small capacity, it is not suitable for fires that have already developed
It must be periodically inspected, revised, and refilled
