Motorcycle spare parts cover everything needed for routine and major maintenance: from the drivetrain (chains, sprockets, crowns, belts) to the suspension and brakes, from air and oil filters to electrical components such as spark plugs, stators, and switches. To find the right part, always start with the motorcycle's make, model, year of registration, and engine displacement.

How to choose the right motorcycle spare parts

With thousands of references covering different makes and models, finding your way requires a precise method. The fundamental parameters to have at hand before searching are: motorcycle make, exact model, year of production, and engine displacement. Some components also require additional data.

Transmission: chains, sprockets, sprockets and belts

For chains, the most important data is the pitch (420, 428, 520, 525, 530) and the type of construction (o-ring, x-ring). Brands like DID and SGR Sprockets cover a wide range of pitches and versions. For sprockets and sprockets, you need to know the chain pitch and the number of teeth; Supersprox (distributed through SGR) offers Stealth bimetallic versions. For scooters with variator transmission, the Bando belt requires checking the specific size for each model.

Suspension: shock absorbers and fork overhaul

Rear shock absorbers are chosen based on the wheelbase (measurement between the centers of the holes) and the type of mounting. YSS offers both mono and rear pairs, with adjustable preload and hydraulic versions. For forks, overhaul kits require knowing the shaft diameter and the model year.

Brakes: pads, discs and clutch

Brake pads are identified by the model code or the reference motorcycle; SBS and CL Brakes offer different compounds for road, sport or off-road use. NG discs are matched by checking the diameter and mounting pattern. For the clutch, FCC provides complete kits with lined discs and spacers; clutch shoes for centrifugal clutches (scooters) require the transmission group code.

Filters and spark plugs

Air filters K&N and Meiwa (MIW) are matched by model and year; some K&N are washable and reusable. NGK and Denso spark plugs are chosen using the alphanumeric code listed in the manual or on the original spark plug: iridium and platinum increase durability compared to standard copper.

Electrical: stators, switches and accessory components

For electrical components — stators, voltage regulators, stop switches, vacuum petcocks — compatibility is strictly linked to the frame number or the original code. SGR Elettrico covers many Japanese and European applications. Before ordering, it is advisable to compare the connector and, where possible, the OEM code of the part to be replaced.

Domande frequenti

Filtro aria originale o racing: quali differenze concrete?
