Top cases, side cases, soft bags and tank bags, frames and mounting hardware: everything you need to carry luggage on your motorcycle safely. The starting point is always the mounting system: choosing the kit specific to your model ensures correct installation and compatibility with the luggage.

How to choose top cases, side cases and bags for your motorcycle

Complete kit or separate components

The most common choice is a matched kit: a container (top case or side cases) plus a mounting bracket or frame already selected for a specific vehicle. Those who already have a top case or side cases can look for just the compatible bracket or frame. Those starting from scratch should consider a kit right away, as it guarantees the correct fit between the two components.

Top case or side cases

The top case is mounted at the rear and is suitable for daily trips, commuting or short rides: limited capacity, quick access. Side cases distribute the weight to the sides of the vehicle and are preferred for longer trips or heavier loads. Many combine both solutions. Soft bags, including tank bags, are lighter and can be removed quickly, suitable for those who do not want a fixed rigid system.

The mounting system: Top Master, 3P System and 4P System

Shad offers different mounting systems depending on the type of luggage. The Top Master system is dedicated to top cases for scooters and naked motorcycles: the base remains on the vehicle, while the top case can be attached and detached without tools. The 3P and 4P systems, on the other hand, concern frames for hard side cases or soft side bags. Each bracket is developed for a specific motorcycle or scooter model: always check compatibility with your year and version before purchasing.

Top case capacity and size

The Shad top cases in the range cover a wide range of capacities, from compact models suitable for a 50cc scooter to touring versions. The capacity indicated in liters is the main reference: to fit a full-face helmet, you generally need at least 45-48 liters, while for jet helmets or everyday use, lower capacities are often sufficient. The hard side cases in the SH series and Terra bags are also available in different capacities.

Spare parts and accessories: locks, backrests, covers and reflectors

For those who already have a top case or side cases, the section includes specific spare parts such as lock mechanism kits, opening cords, reflectors and backrests. Waterproof covers protect the luggage in case of rain. Backrests (backrest pad) increase passenger comfort. These accessories are searched for by top case model code: having the exact model on hand (e.g. SH39, SH46, SH23) speeds up the search.

Domande frequenti
