Motorcycle transmission spare parts include chains, sprockets, drive wheels, complete kits, clutch plates, scooter belts, and control levers. The first selection criterion is the chain pitch or the motorcycle reference: each component must be matched by model, year, and engine displacement to ensure proper operation.

How to choose motorcycle transmission spare parts

Chains: pitch and link type

Chain pitch (420, 428, 520, 525, 530) is the fundamental parameter: it must match the motorcycle's original pitch. In addition to the pitch, the link type matters: O-ring, X-ring, and ZVM-X chains ensure prolonged internal lubrication and are suitable for heavy road use, while non-sealed chains are lighter and more common in motocross and enduro. DID is the most sought-after brand, with references covering all the main pitches.

Sprockets and sprockets: material and number of teeth

Sprockets and sprockets are chosen based on the chain pitch and the number of teeth, which directly affects the transmission ratio and therefore acceleration and top speed. Steel sprockets offer greater durability; aluminum ones reduce unsprung weight, a solution appreciated on the track. Supersprox also offers Stealth bimetal sprockets, with an aluminum body and steel insert. SGR Sprockets and Esjot cover a wide range of road and off-road applications.

Complete transmission kits

Replacing the chain, sprocket, and sprocket together is the correct practice: unevenly worn components accelerate the degradation of the new ones. CHT and KIT TRASMISSIONE SGR kits are available for many models and can include chains of different quality levels, from the standard version to the reinforced one.

Scooter transmission belts

Scooters with an automatic variator require a trapezoidal belt of specific width and length for the model. Bando and Dayco are the reference brands for OEM and original equipment belts. A worn belt can deteriorate abruptly, so replacement should be carried out respecting the deadlines indicated by the manufacturer.

Clutch plates and control levers

Clutch plates are distinguished into lined plates (organic or sintered) and steel plates: in FCC kits they are often paired for a complete clutch pack replacement. SGR Leve levers are available in standard and adjustable versions; for models with an integrated clutch switch, it is necessary to check the electrical compatibility with the motorcycle before purchase.

Domande frequenti

Posso sostituire solo i dischi guarniti senza cambiare quelli in acciaio?
