The category includes compressor refrigerators for camper vans, portable coolers, and everything needed to install them or keep them running efficiently: ventilation grilles, cooling fans, electric igniters, and spare parts. To choose, start with the power supply type and capacity in litres, then select accessories based on the refrigerator model already installed.

How to choose the right refrigerator or accessory for your motorhome

Cooling type: compressor or cooler

Compressor refrigerators run on 12/24V and maintain a stable temperature regardless of the vehicle's tilt; they are the most common choice for continuous use in motorhomes. Coolers — such as Coleman models from the Convoy or Xtreme ranges — do not require electrical power and are suitable for excursions or as backup for the main refrigerator.

Capacity and dimensions

Usable capacity ranges from a few dozen liters to over 150 liters for models with separate fridge and freezer compartments. Before choosing, check the dimensions of the compartment in the motorhome: the width, height, and depth of the recess determine which models are compatible with the available space.

Ventilation: grilles and cooling fans

The compressor refrigerator dissipates heat through the rear technical compartment. Insufficient ventilation reduces efficiency and can damage the compressor. Ventilation grilles — available in aluminum or plastic and in various sizes — should be sized according to the opening cut into the motorhome panel. Cooling fans (such as Brunner fans from the Vento series) speed up air circulation in the refrigerator compartment and are particularly useful during hot seasons. Check the compartment dimensions and the number of fans required before purchasing.

Igniters and electrical spare parts

Absorption refrigerators (gas/12V/230V) are still common in many older-generation motorhomes. The electric igniter is the component that lights the gas burner: when it stops working, the refrigerator will not turn on in gas mode. Always check your model's code before ordering the correct spare part.

How to find the right spare part

For doors, profiles, latches, and spare parts, the most reliable reference is the refrigerator's model number, found on the internal nameplate. Brands such as Dometic and Indel B offer a wide range of original spare parts. For older refrigerator models, many nozzles and igniters are still available as compatible spare parts.

Domande frequenti
