How to choose 24V truck lamps and exterior lights

Heavy commercial vehicles operate at 24V: using 12V bulbs in these systems will burn them out in a few minutes. Before making any purchase, always check that the rated voltage and socket match the factory-fitted equipment on the vehicle.

Socket type and technology

Halogen bulbs cover the most common sockets: H7, H4, H1, H2, W5W, T4W (BA9s), T3 (W2x4.6d) and others. Xenon (HID) bulbs and their LED equivalents use codes such as D1S, D1R, D2R: before replacing a xenon bulb, check the code printed on the original. Drop-in LEDs for halogen sockets (H7, H4 series) can be installed without modifying the optical housing, but they do not always guarantee the same lighting pattern as the original.

Clearance and position lights

24V LED clearance lights are surface-mounted on the roof or the sides of the cab. Choose the colour (white, amber, red) based on the position and the vehicle's regulations. Check the moisture resistance, generally indicated by the IP rating, which is especially important for installations exposed to the elements.

Dashboard bulbs and indicator lights

Dashboard LEDs (T3, T4W) are used to backlight switches and dials. The bulb diameter (typically 8–10 mm) and the push-in or bayonet socket determine compatibility. They are available in white, blue and other colours: choose based on the cab's interior style.

LED bars and work strips

Multifunction LED bars and flexible 24V strips are used for work lighting, cab customisation or loading. Consider the length, the number of LEDs and the beam type (spot, flood or combined) based on the intended use. Lampa, Pilot and Osram offer solutions for both aesthetics and functional lighting.
